Little red book by Swirlything Little red book by Swirlything
HA! Take that, Paperblanks and your flat-opening coptic-bound journals of expensive!

Finally figured out how to make these open-spine type books. (not proper coptic binding since I was making it up as I went along 8D) Which I actually found are easier to make since you only need a tiny bit of glue compared to my normal method. And they open flat so they're better to draw in!

Cover is some awesome handmade paper I found, pages are mixed paper- white plus three slightly different shades of cream. I'm pleased with this one, even if it didn't photo well.

Really cute! How did you make the cover? Did you glue the paper onto a harder surface?

Yes, it's textured paper glued onto thick card. I can't remember what kind of card it was for this particular book, but I normally reuse things like the backs of old notebooks/sketchbooks and packaging.

And thanks!

Heheheh, as a writer, I appreciate a good book, for for reading and in viewing.

I've learned long ago not to judge a book by its cover, but I'm also knowledgeable to realize that a nice looking book could be appealing enough to draw in a reader.

^_^

Very well done; keep up the great work.

That's quite awesome. :D The open spine must make it a lot easier to use! Spiral-bound notebooks are nice until the spiral conks out on you and refuses to cooperate.

The handmade paper you used for the cover is nice, too. I like the texture. ^^

I've sold a few, and given a few as birthday/christmas presents, but most- like this one- I use as sketchbooks.

Glad you like it!

Wow, that's pretty. I suck so horribly at a coptic stitch that it's not even funny, so kudos to you for pulling it off and having it look awesome. :p

Thanks! It took me a couple of goes to get to that stage and it's still not perfect, but it seems to have worked (:
